Why is my wallpaper blurry?
Quick answerYour phone zooms in on any photo that isn't the same shape as its screen, and stretches small photos to fill it. Zooming throws away pixels, so the picture turns soft. The fix is a photo that already has your screen's exact size and shape.
The 3 reasons wallpapers lose quality
- Wrong shape. Phone screens are tall and narrow (about 9:19.5). Most photos are 3:4, 4:5 or square, so the phone zooms in until the screen is filled.
- Too small. A photo saved from social media or a screenshot is often smaller than your screen. The phone stretches it up, which makes it blurry.
- Extra zoom effects. iPhone's Perspective Zoom and some Android parallax effects zoom the picture a little more so it can move.
How to fix it
Give your phone a picture that already matches the screen pixel for pixel. Then nothing is zoomed or stretched. You can crop by hand (and lose part of the photo), or let Pawlo extend the photo to the right shape and rebuild it at your screen's exact resolution.

Pick a photo, Pawlo detects your phone and rebuilds the picture at its exact size. No stretching, no blur. Your first 2 are free.

Why does my wallpaper look blurry after I set it?
The phone zoomed or stretched it to fill a screen with a different shape or a higher resolution than the photo.
Does a higher resolution photo fix it?
Only if it's also the right shape. A big photo with the wrong shape still gets cropped and zoomed.
